Frequently asked

Who is behind this service?

Flip1 is a brand under Fixably, a leading platform for after-sales workflow and inventory management, trusted by repair depots, large-scale refurbishers, and wholesalers in over 40 countries across six continents. Fixably's mission is to extend the lifespan of billions of devices, helping to reduce e-waste on a global scale.

Devices traded through Flip1 are expertly processed, diagnosed, and refurbished by Fixably-enabled companies, and then resold either to merchants or through Fixably’s extensive partner network.

Started in 2020, Fixably is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, and led by industry veterans with deep expertise in electronics repair, refurbishing, and customer experience, supported by an exceptional development team.

What is the experience from my e-commerce customers pov?

Once Flip1 is integrated into your e-commerce site, customers will see prompts showing how much they can save by paying with a trade-in. When a customer selects Flip1 as their payment method, they can choose an item to trade in from a wide catalogue of eligible products. After answering a few simple questions about the item, Flip1 provides an instant valuation. The customer then pays only the difference between the trade-in value and their purchase, while you, the merchant, receive the full price of the item.

From there, we take care of the entire trade-in process, ensuring a seamless experience for both you and your customers.

What if the customer wants to cancel their webshop purchase?

You will manage the return process as you normally would. However, once the trade-in item has been processed, ownership of the item is transferred to Flip1, and it cannot be returned to the customer. In this case, Flip1 will refund the full purchase price to the customer, ensuring a smooth and straightforward experience.

What happens if the trade-in item is not received or is in poor condition?

Once we receive the customer's trade-in item, we'll notify them and confirm the final trade-in value. The customer can then choose to either accept or decline the revised offer. If they accept, we'll charge them the difference between the initial valuation and the confirmed price. If they decline, we'll process the full charge based on the original valuation and return the device to them.

What if I’m Interested in Reselling the Trade-in Items Myself?

No problem. All trade-in items processed through Flip1 can be resold back to the original merchant. Merchants from whose webshops the items were traded in have first priority to purchase items of interest before they are offered to other Fixably partners.

By using Flip1 as the trade-in processor, you can avoid the financial risks and hassle of managing trade-ins while selecting only the items you want to resell, giving you flexibility and control over your inventory.

How is Flip1 Different from Other Trade-in Programs?

Many trade-in programs fail due to inconvenience, leaving devices forgotten in drawers. Flip1 stands out by offering instant savings during the purchasing process, making trade-ins easy and motivating for customers. Powered by data from millions of processed items, Flip1 provides accurate, competitive pricing.

Additionally, Flip1 leverages the global partner network of its parent company, Fixably, ensuring efficient shipping, diagnosis, repair, and resale of devices. This global infrastructure shortens turnaround times, making the trade-in process faster and more efficient.

Why Trade-in as a Payment Makes Sense

In Europe, the average household holds around 9 unused, functional electronic devices, representing a significant untapped value—estimated at up to £5.63 billion in the UK alone. These items often remain unused due to lack of knowledge on proper disposal or sentimental attachment, contributing to the growing e-waste problem.

Flip1 converts this idle tech into purchasing power by offering a simple, integrated trade-in option at checkout. This benefits merchants by lowering purchasing barriers for customers, with no risk or hassle in managing the trade-in process.

What happens if the trade-in item is not received or is in poor condition?
